Un restaurante de propietario italiano, con camareros italianos, muchos clientes italianos, comida evidentemente italiana, agua, cerveza, vinos, cafés italianos… Incluso la televisión tiene sintonizada siempre la cadena RAI. «Il Golfo di Napoli» (Calle Lleida, Barcelona) no es un restaurante, es un pedazo de Nápoles en la ciudad condal.
Además de las clásicas pizzas, su carta consta de una gran variedad de pastas y también una extensa lista de segundos platos de carne y pescado, algo bastante más difícil de encontrar en los restaurantes italianos al uso. Los antipasti están en la línea de muchos otros restaurantes del estilo. Ofrece mozzarella en múltiples presentaciones y una excelente parmigiana (capas de berenjena y queso parmesano con tomate frito).
Desde luego su plato estrella es la pasta, que junto a un buen antipasto nos parece más que suficiente para comer. De las especialidades más típicas en los restaurantes italianos aquí sólo encontramos los «fetuccini bolognesa» y unos «ravioli cuatro quesos». Olvídense de la carbonara o el pesto.
El tomate y la nata en cambio están muy presentes en combinación con verduras y pescado. Por ejemplo los «gnocchi speck e gorgonzola» (aunque el speck no sea muy típico del sur de Italia) y los «linguine alla pescatora», uno de sus platos de pasta más logrados.
Hay que destacar también los «spaguetti puttanesca» aquí rebautizados como «Nina», o los «farfalle mare monti». Las preparaciones con tomate son sobresalientes, cosa que no ocurre siempre con las que llevan nata, que en ocasiones resultan demasiado pesadas.
La mayoría de los postres presumen de ser caseros. Destaca por encima de todos el tiramisu, el babá, la pannacota y los cannoli. También somos adictos a un riquísimo pastel de chocolate y almendras que, tal vez no sea muy típico de Italia pero resulta irresistible.
En definitiva «Il Golfo di Napoli» es uno de esos pequeños restaurantes con mesas apretadas y bastante ruidosos, pero con una buena relación calidad- precio (una comida completa nos sale por unos 25€) y sobretodo un sabor puramente italiano.
